Yurina's demands went unfulfilled. Will collapsed with a high fever. He hadn't been out to work for two days, the food in the refrigerator was gone, and worse, Yurina offered no care, leaving him to fend for himself. Will had no choice but to drag his sick body out to buy medicine, but he didn't return all day. "Takes this long just to buy medicine. What a waste," Yurina couldn't help but curse again.
Another three days passed, and Will still hadn't returned. Enraged, she began throwing things, smashing everything she could get her hands on. A week later, Yurina completely lost hope. She concluded the man wasn't coming back. What now? As she was at her wit's end, a knock came at the door. "Who is it?" she asked.
"It's the landlady. You haven't paid rent for two months."
"Will isn't home. Please come back in a few days!"
"I'll give you three more days. If you still can't pay, you'll have to move out." After the landlady left, fear crept in. Yurina felt she was about to be homeless. A half-person like her would become a target of ridicule and attack. The three days passed quickly. The landlady came to reclaim the property. Yurina pleaded, "Can you let me stay here? Just a small room is fine." The landlady, a fat woman in her fifties, looked Yurina up and down. "Are you a robot?"
Yurina nodded. Ever since becoming a half-person, everyone could tell at a glance she wasn't human, as she lacked a lower body's excretory system, which would be impossible for a human to survive without. "Do you mind being my pet?" the fat woman asked.
Yurina was instantly humiliated. In the past, she would have killed the woman, but things were different now. She was no match for this fat woman. "Well? Do you agree or not?" After a long pause, Yurina nodded helplessly. She couldn't think of a better solution. The fat woman was delighted, picked her up, and carried her out, even giving her a dog's name, "Barbara." The landlady lived two kilometers from Will's house. Yurina was kept in a separate cage from a real dog. The fat woman's eighteen-year-old son frequently harassed her. Yurina endured endless humiliation, feeling that death would be a release. One day, she was thrown out to bake in the sun, her hands chained to prevent her from escaping. "Why are you doing this to me?" she asked, looking up. The boy replied with a smile, "I just love watching beautiful women suffer. It excites me!"
"One day, I will kill you."
"Oh yeah? If you can, you can kill me right now." The boy walked up to her and stepped on her fair, delicate back. "Why don't you get tanned? I prefer darker girls." The next moment, "Is it because you're wearing clothes?" With that, he began to strip Yurina's clothes off.
Yurina lay naked in the sun all day. By nightfall, she decided to end her own life. The next morning, the boy came to her cage again and kicked her. "Wake up. I'm taking you out to play today." After several kicks, Yurina remained motionless. "What's going on? Is she broken?" The boy called the fat woman. Mother and son studied her for a long time and finally concluded that the robot was broken.
"Then let's throw her in the trash," the fat woman said.
"No, I'm going to make her a coffin, so I can look at her every day, my lovely Barbara." The coffin was never made. Instead, Yurina was nailed to the wall, bare-chested like a crucified saint. The boy treated her as a human specimen, hanging her in his room. He was very pleased with this idea and often showed her off to his friends. "Sabi, can you sell your specimen to me?" one of the boy's classmates asked, looking at the wall. "Impossible," Sabi immediately refused.
"How about a thousand Star Coins?"
"Forrest, what do you want to buy her for? Don't think I don't know, you disgusting creep." The other boy didn't argue but held up two fingers. "Two thousand Star Coins!" Sabi was tempted and fell silent, waiting for the price to go up. They finally settled on thirty-six hundred Star Coins. Having paid a high price, Forrest cherished her. He dressed Yurina in new clothes, held her every night as he slept, and performed all sorts of strange acts on her. One day, as they were passionately kissing in bed, Yurina suddenly opened her eyes. A small knife simultaneously appeared in her hand and was plunged into his chest with incredible speed. After killing Forrest, Yurina stomped on his corpse and cursed, "You filthy man!"
Under the cover of darkness, she fled the room. Ever since being left in the sun by Will's tormentor, Yurina had been playing dead, hoping they would throw her out with the trash, allowing her to escape. Unexpectedly, the boy didn't follow convention and hung her on the wall as a decoration, constantly groping and kissing her. She could only grit her teeth and continue the pretense. Later, she was bought by Forrest, who was even more perverted, tormenting her every night. Once, when he was out, she found a small knife and hid it on her person. Today, she had finally ended his life. Yurina now wanted to go to the ruins to find Daechir. She remembered that they could sense each other at close range, provided Daechir was still alive. Also, there should be an energy sphere left in her own body. The ruins were over seventy kilometers away, an impossible distance to travel with just her hands. She had to find a way to drive there, preferably an autonomous car. Propping herself up with her hands, she moved over three hundred meters to a highway. Under the cover of night, she pretended to be a drunk woman lying in the grass by the roadside. When a car passed, she would wave at it. Perhaps the scene was too bizarre; the few cars that went by didn't stop. She felt a pang of discouragement. Do I look that bad now? This time, she decided to pose as a poor girl hurt by a man. She undid her clothes, revealing half of her breast. A quarter of an hour later, another car approached, and it was an autonomous one. "Sir, help! Help!" Yurina straightened up, waving her arms frantically and shouting.
With a screech, the car stopped abruptly. A handsome man in his thirties got out. By the dim light of the roadside lamps, he walked towards Yurina. "Miss, do you need help?"
"Sir, can you come closer and help me up?" The man hesitated for a moment but took another step forward and reached out to help Yurina. As he bent down, a sharp pain shot through his abdomen. He looked down to see a knife stuck in his stomach. "Why did you kill me?" the man asked in disbelief.
"I'm sorry! Just consider it dying for me," Yurina replied coldly. Snatching the man's car keys and straightening her clothes, she propped herself up with her hands, climbed into the car, and drove off towards the ruins.
