With the car, it took only twenty-some minutes to reach the ruins. The area was as large as five football fields, and the distance at which Yurina and Daechir could sense each other was about twenty meters. Yurina got out of the car and looked out at the small mountain-like heaps of garbage filling the entire open space. She put on her gloves and carefully propped herself up, searching in a serpentine pattern from left to right. This was a gamble; if she couldn't find Daechir, her energy would deplete even further. Three hours passed without her noticing. She spotted a person in the distance and quickly retracted her hands, hiding under a broken leather suitcase. To her now, humans were the most terrifying, especially men. Peeking out cautiously, she saw it was none other than Will. Should I reveal myself? Yurina wondered. Better not! This kind of man is completely useless.
She decided to wait for him to leave before coming out. Will didn't leave until after six in the evening. Having hidden for so long, Yurina was fuming and emerged cursing under her breath. Late at night, she stood on a pile of rubble and muttered, "It seems to be here. I hope I'm not wrong this time."
By the bright moonlight, she first moved a discarded television screen, followed by construction debris and various old appliances. After digging half a meter deep, Yurina could feel her energy diminish further. Just then, a pair of bare female feet appeared before her eyes. She cried out in joyful surprise, "Daechir, is that you?"
She called out several times, but there was no response from below. She could only continue digging. First, she saw a shriveled long leg, then the upper body, which was also in a terrible state. A weak voice came from beneath the rubble, "Who are you?"
"It's me, Yurina!" Yurina was thrilled. She recognized Daechir's voice and frantically cleared away the various debris pressing down on her. Half an hour later, a barely recognizable female robot appeared before her. She bent down and dragged her out. Daechir's entire body was almost completely flattened; only her head was relatively intact, though her face had many scrapes where the leaking fluid had long since congealed and turned black. "Do you still have any energy spheres on you?" Yurina asked.
Although Daechir's body was wrecked, her mind was still clear. Hearing this, her heart sank. She couldn't help but ask, "Aren't you here to save me?"
"I am here to save you, but what can you do in your current state? You might as well give the energy spheres to me!"
"I can give them to you, but you must take me with you when you leave!"
"Kiki, haven't you seen what I look like? How can I take you with only two hands?" Daechir hadn't noticed before. Now, looking up, she said with disappointment, "Then you can go! The energy spheres are in my underwear. You can find them yourself."
Yurina quickly found the energy spheres, and there were two of them. As she was about to leave, Daechir called out from behind, "I have a favor to ask. Can you end my life?"
Yurina turned back at the sound. "Kiki, you don't even have the ability to commit suicide now?"
Survival is a human instinct, and it's the same for robots. At this critical moment, Daechir couldn't help but hesitate. "Do you want to have a body again?" she asked.
"Of course! Do you have a way?" Yurina asked back, overjoyed. "Have you forgotten? I'm a scientist. Of course, I have a way."
"What is it?"
"Let's make a deal. You get me out of here, and I'll be responsible for restoring our bodies. How about it?" A troubled look appeared on Yurina's face. "In my condition, how can I get you out?"
"You can just take my head and throw away the rest."
"That's a good idea. Your body is all ruined anyway." Yurina happened to have the knife she used to kill Forrest. She raised it and began hacking at the neck of Daechir, who was lying in the ruins. Although she was a robot, chilling screams echoed, and red liquid splattered like human blood, a horrifying sight to behold. After severing the head, Yurina tore off Daechir's clothes, wrapped the head, and tied it around her own neck. "Where do we go first?" Yurina asked.
"Your two energy spheres can last for about three years. Let's try to get back to Eagle's Nest. I have the laboratory I need there."
"But this is Australia, with the Indian Ocean in between."
"First, let's find a way to the coast, then get a boat and row across."
"You don't have hands. How can you row?"
"Then we'll find a motorboat and prepare enough fuel. There will always be a way." Yurina got into the stolen car and asked proudly, "Well? I didn't disappoint you, did I?"
"You managed to get a car like this? That's amazing," Daechir praised sincerely. Having someone to talk to, Yurina was in a cheerful mood and chattered non-stop. Before they knew it, the car reached the seaside. The strange pair—a half-person carrying a head—got out and looked at the empty beach. "Where are the boats?"
"Let's walk ahead and see!" Daechir suggested.
Yurina chose to go left. After walking more than four hundred meters, she still saw nothing. The two were in a predicament. Should they continue forward or go back to the car? Just then, a scream came from behind them. "Brother, look! What's that thing up ahead?"
"Looks like a woman?"
"Why doesn't she have a lower body?" a tender, childish voice then asked.
"Let's go and see!"
Yurina turned around in surprise to see a boy of about eleven or twelve and a little girl of seven or eight running towards her. "Run!" Daechir, hanging from her neck, shouted urgently.
"No need, they're just two little kids."
"Who were you talking to just now?" the little boy asked as he ran up to Yurina. "To you, of course!"
"You know me?" The boy was very surprised.
"What's your name?" Yurina asked, ignoring his question.
"My name is George, and this is my sister," George said, pointing to the little girl beside him.
The little girl stared curiously at Yurina's lower half and asked blankly, "Sister, where are your legs?"
"A bad man cut them off!"
"You're so pitiful!" George, however, was interested in the head hanging around Yurina's neck. "What's inside? Is it food?"
Daechir, wrapped in the clothes, was too scared to speak. Yurina didn't answer but asked, "Do you know if there are any boats around here?"
"I know!" the little girl raised her hand first.
Not to be outdone, George quickly chimed in, "I know too."
"Brother, I said it first!" Yurina pointed at the little girl and asked, "You tell me, where is there one?"
"My family has one, and it's a very big boat."
"Where is your family's boat docked?" The little girl pointed in the opposite direction from where Yurina had come. "It's over there!"
"Can you take me to see it?"
"Can you walk without legs?"
"Of course, look!" Yurina immediately demonstrated by propping herself up with her hands. "Sister, you're amazing!" the little girl praised, clapping her hands.
